It is with deep sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Maja Primic Žakelj, MD, PhD, a distinguished epidemiology and public health specialist and the first head of the National Cervical Cancer Screening Programme ZORA. Despite her retirement in 2018, she remained actively engaged with the program, contributing her extensive expertise to the Expert Council of ZORA and leading the Epidemiology Expert Group.
