Inviting of women from Ukraine with temporary protection status

National cervical cancer screening programme ZORA invites women aged 20 to 64 years who have a permanent or temporary residence in Slovenia. Data about women is automatically collected from the Central Population Register, hence women from Ukraine with temporary protection in Slovenia also receive an invitation for cervical caner screening. However, the status of temporary protection does not include compulsory health insurance and does not cover cancer screening. Temporary Protection of Displaced Persons Act and the Decree on the methods for ensuring rights of persons enjoying temporary protection state which health services are covered by the emergency healthcare rights for those with the temporary protection status, while cervical cancer screening (and other cancer screenings) are not covered by the emergency healthcare rights.

It is not possible for us at this moment to exclude women with temporary protection from the invitation to cervical cancer screening. All women with the compulosry health insurance can attend a preventive gynaecological examination free of charge, those without the compulsory health insurance can still attend a preventive gynaecological examination but only through self-funding.

We would also like to inform you that the Temporary Protection of Displaced Persons Act states, that women with the temporary protection status can access the women's healthcare services which include contraceptives, pregnancy termination and health services during pregnancy and childbirth.
